Overview - Carcosa Seri Negara Hotel
In 1896, Sir Frank Swettenham, the first resident-general of colonial Malaya, began constructing his official residence above the lake gardens. It was named 'Carcosa', a stylisation of the Italian word for 'dear place'.
In 1904, Sir Frank moved to the completed Carcosa, at the same time finishing a building called 'King's House' on an adjacent hillside. The King's House, today called the 'Seri Negara' (which means 'beautiful country'), was used to house the Governor of the Straits Settlements as well as other illustrious guests of the Malay Federation.
From 1904 until 1941, the Carcosa was the official residence of the highest British representatives to the Malay States. Today, it is one of the leading hotels in Kuala Lumpur with its manicured lawns and luxurious setting, truly here to stay for generations to come. |

 Located on top a hill overlooking the Lake Gardens, the Carcosa is just minutes away from central Kuala Lumpur. This boutique Malaysian heritage hotel features 13 Victorian-style suites that derive their names from Malaysian states.
This carefully restored residence is set on four acres of lush gardens that was originally built in 1904. All the suites have separate living rooms with garden views, while the larger ones offer generous terraces and private dining rooms.

All of Carcosa Seri Negara's suites are tastefully furnished with spacious bedrooms, luxurious bathrooms and cosy sitting areas on verandahs. Junior Suite
The 5 Junior Suites are named Seri Tanjung, Seri Melaka, Seri Naim, Seri Iman and Seri Takzim respectively, ranging in size from 47 - 76 sq m and conveying their own exclusive character and ambience.
Superior Suite
The Seri Aman, Seri Khusus and Seri Sarawak make up the 3 Superior Suites in the hotel, ranging from 75 - 92 sq m, each boasting well-appointed bathrooms, en-suite facilities and separate living rooms.
Deluxe Suite
The Deluxe Suites are named Seri Ehsan Ridzuan, Seri Kayangan, Seri Makmur and Seri Kinabalu respectively. These Deluxe Suites offer luxurious space with beautiful bedrooms, suite facilities, sizeable lounges and comfortable dining areas. Each suite ranges in size from 90 - 139 s qm with the larger rooms providing generous terraces that overlook the property’s spacious grounds.
Grand Suite
For extended rooms and privacy, the Grand Suite offers a lavish bedroom with en-suite facilities, separate living room and a generous dining area. This elegant arrangement combines the Seri Ehsan or Seri Ridzuan Suites together with the Inderapura Suite for a setting of luxury and solitude. The respective residences offer 144 sq m and 187 sq m of luxurious interiors, in addition to 48.5 sq m of terrace space. |
