Chiang Dao, literally translated 'the City of Stars', is North of Chiang Mai en route to Tha Ton. Chiang Dao town center has charming old style wooden shops flanking the highway. Chiang Dao is famous for its Elephant Camp and Elephant show. You arrive at the camp after a drive along picturesque routes - winding around the bends of the road high above the Mae (River) Ping. Watch the elephants taking their morning bath and demonstrating some of their skills. Afterwards take an elephant ride for approx. 1½ hrs through some of the

lovely forest scenery and along the river. Perched high in a wooden howdah, you gain an impressive view of the forest and an unforgettable experience. After lunch, take a bamboo raft trip down the Mae Ping. Admire the scenery and absorb the tranquility as you float down the river. On your return trip to Chiang Mai, visit a typical Hmong hill-tribe village.
